On Saturday November 7, 2009, Tennessee high school FFA members interested in attending college will have the opportunity to see firsthand what makes the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR), at the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus, an excellent option to pursue their academic interests.
Varsity Visit is a chance for students to get information on admission requirements and majors offered at CASNR. With its low professor to student ratio and exciting areas of study, CASNR stands out as a place where students receive a quality education that prepares them for careers than can make a difference. “CASNR students and faculty will be on hand to share information about the exciting and innovative activities future students can experience when studying in CASNR,” according to Dr. Mary Albrecht, associate dean for academic programs.
While at Varsity Visit, teams from each high school FFA chapter will have the chance to compete in a college scholarship contest. FFA teams will test their knowledge of creativity, communications and a general knowledge exam similar to the ACT. The first-place team will receive a scholarship valued at $5,000 to be divided among team members. The second place team will receive a scholarship valued at $3,750 and the third-place team will receive a scholarship valued at $2,500.
What would a visit to UT be without football? Each team and its advisor can enjoy watching the Big Orange take on Memphis at Neyland Stadium. For information concerning ticket purchase, please visit the ticket office at http://www.utsports.com/tickets or call them at 800-332-VOLS (8657).
